RETREAT YEAR: 2025
RETREAT LOCATION: Doha, Qatar
# OF PASTORS, IMAMS, AND RABBIS 400

The conference co-hosted by the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network (MFNN) and the Doha International Center for Inter-faith Dialog in Doha, Qatar, was explicitly centered on the theme “Peacemaking in a De-Stabilized World”. The urgent context for this dialogue was the need to discuss how to build peace after all this destruction currently going on , acknowledging a time where there is a lot of hurt. The organizers and attendees were driven by the goal of changing people’s minds and hearts as a result of seeing the need for this work.

The participants offered a clear strategy for addressing global destabilization, emphasizing that dialogue and negotiation are key. They asserted that peacemaking is not a secondary effort, but primary in ministry , emphasizing that “Peace is everything”. To stabilize a fractured world, the process must begin with discussions , requiring individuals to be present and engaged, as “Change doesn’t happen until we are at the table with one another”.

A critical element is building trust, which was identified as “the biggest issue”. The consensus was that discussions must start with building familiarity, noting, “If we get to know each other, it’s easy to love people that you know”. The overall goal is to move beyond simply tolerating one another to seeing each person as an “equal citizen”. Furthermore, achieving stability depends on establishing fundamental conditions: “Peace is possible when there is a commitment to respect justice, dignity, and human rights for all”.

Commitment to Action in a De-Stabilized Era

Central to the conference’s message was the empowerment of human agency in the face of global instability. Peace is defined not as a divine outcome, but as “the result of our decisions”. This belief fueled the call to action: “Pray like everything depends on God. Act like everything depends on us”. The gathering attracted people from the global religious and political spectrum who share a “renewed commitment to peace-making” and a desire to be a part of the solution. Recognizing the urgency of the de-stabilized world, the final message was an absolute determination: “We are determined to live this world better than we found it for you, for your children, and your children”.
